Mental health toolkit empowers Canadian workplaces

The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) takes a major step toward improving workplace mental health today with the release of its free Workplace Mental Health Toolkit. This comprehensive resource is designed to help organizations across Canada foster supportive, psychologically safe environments for employees.

The toolkit provides an array of tools aimed at equipping business owners, managers, and supervisors with practical strategies to prioritize mental well-being at work. It features informative videos, checklists, infographics, posters, and podcasts, all focused on building a robust mental health program. These resources guide employers on how to identify and address workplace hazards and risks, facilitate open conversations about mental health, and create a culture where employees feel safe, respected, and valued.

By linking mental health to broader human rights issues, the toolkit encourages organizations to take a holistic approach to employee well-being. “Creating an environment where employees feel supported and valued not only improves their well-being but also strengthens organizations,” says Anne Tennier, President and Chief Executive Officer of CCOHS. “This toolkit can help employers start their journey toward a mental health program in the workplace.”

With its focus on psychological safety, the toolkit is expected to become a vital resource for employers eager to support their teams while addressing one of the most pressing workplace challenges of today.

As mental health continues to emerge as a critical component of workplace safety, the CCOHS initiative highlights the power of proactive, informed leadership in transforming workplaces into spaces where every employee can thrive.
