New area gas monitor delivers user-friendly and rest-assured worker safety

Industrial Scientific Corporation has recently unveiled the new Vectorâ„¢ AM7 Area Monitor, a next-generation solution designed to enhance workplace safety through advanced gas detection and streamlined operational efficiency. This new monitor is engineered to meet the evolving needs of industrial environments, offering robust, real-time gas monitoring capabilities alongside improved ease of deployment and mobility. Its design prioritises flexibility and user accessibility, enabling seamless integration into a variety of work settings without obstructing ongoing operations.

At the heart of the Vector AM7 is the proven SafeCore® Module, also utilised in the Radius® BZ1 Area Monitor. This module enables the simultaneous detection of up to seven gases, with a comprehensive suite of 22 sensor options. These include sensors for toxic and combustible gases, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are available in Catalytic, Infrared (IR), and Photoionisation Detection (PID) formats. This modularity allows users to tailor the device to specific applications by easily exchanging sensors as operational demands change.

The monitor is equipped with advanced communication features, including LENS® Wireless peer-to-peer networking and 4G cellular connectivity. These technologies facilitate the real-time sharing of alarm conditions and instrument data across connected devices, regardless of physical location. Through integration with the iNet® platform, the Vector AM7 enables immediate transmission of critical safety data and performance insights to site supervisors and safety managers, significantly enhancing situational awareness and response coordination.

Another superb feature is the Vector AM7’s compact and optimised form factor, which supports stackable storage and simplified transport. This makes the device particularly well-suited for deployment in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, utilities, pulp and paper, and emergency response services. Maintenance processes have also been streamlined, with an accessible design that reduces service complexity and operational downtime. Additionally, improved charging infrastructure and accessories offer reduced electrical and installation costs, reinforcing the monitor’s value as a long-term investment.

The Vector AM7 is capable of continuous operation for up to 75 days, facilitated by its ability to accommodate up to three user-replaceable batteries. These batteries can be exchanged in non-hazardous environments without interrupting the device’s functionality, thereby eliminating unnecessary work stoppages. This extended runtime, combined with the ease of maintenance and operational flexibility, positions the Vector AM7 as a powerful tool for ensuring continuous, connected, and reliable gas detection in high-risk industrial settings.
