The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has received the ISO 42001:2023 certification for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems.
This marks the first time the international standard has been awarded within the global agriculture and food security sector. It is also the first such certification achieved by a government entity in the UAE.
The certification recognizes ADAFSA’s use of advanced AI technologies, including intelligent analytics and machine learning, to enhance the efficiency and delivery of agricultural and food safety services.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, described the certification as a milestone that reflects the UAE’s leadership in setting global standards for responsible AI.
He emphasized AI’s growing role in improving the performance of key sectors such as agriculture and food security and praised ADAFSA’s efforts in supporting national digital transformation and food resilience strategies.
Dr. Tariq Al Ameri, Acting Director-General of ADAFSA, credited the achievement to the leadership’s support and collaboration with strategic partners.
He said the certification aligns with the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 and Abu Dhabi’s vision for agricultural sustainability and innovation-driven development.
The Authority stated that the certification strengthens public confidence in its governance and operational systems, positioning it as a model for government innovation regionally and globally.
The UAE has actively participated in shaping international AI standards through the Emirates AI Experts Group, part of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Since 2020, the group has contributed to developing unified frameworks, with participation from national and international experts from government, academia, and industry.
