Driver in UAE swerves at the last minute, causes accident

The video was shared in a bid to make roads safer as part of a new campaign.

Ajman Police have shared a video of a driver who stopped and changed lanes suddenly, causing a traffic accident.

The video shows a vehicle driving on the second lane from the right, exiting a main road. However, just as the exit approaches, the driver turns left, trying to avoid the exit. Being too close to the concrete divider in front of him, the driver stops and merges left. As a result, several vehicles behind him are left with no option but to come to a screeching halt, causing an accident between two vehicles. Oblivious to the accident he has caused, the driver continues on his way.

The video was shared in a bid to make roads safer and protect lives as part of a new campaign by the police. The new awareness campaign called ‘Watch Out’ (Arabic: Dair Balak) is aimed at educating drivers about the dangers of serious traffic violations and reckless driving behaviors that can lead to deadly accidents.

The campaign, led by the Media and Public Relations Department of Ajman Police, hopes to grab drivers’ attention and remind them that careless mistakes behind the wheel can cost lives and damage property.

Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Humaid bin Hindi, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, said the campaign is focused on raising awareness about major violations such as running red lights, sudden lane changes, and not sticking to the correct driving lane. He explained that sharing real-life footage of accidents can make a stronger impact on viewers and help encourage them to follow the rules of the road.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Noura Sultan Al Shamsi, head of the Media and Public Relations Department, said this initiative is part of a larger, modern traffic safety plan. She stressed that real video footage from the streets often leaves a lasting impression and can push people to think twice about how they drive. She also noted that Ajman Police is constantly working on creative and effective ways to promote a culture of safety on the roads.

As part of the campaign, Ajman Police is sharing actual video clips of dangerous accidents captured by the emirate’s smart surveillance systems. These clips show real incidents that happened on Ajman’s roads, highlighting dangerous behaviors by some drivers — actions that have caused or nearly caused serious crashes.

By using powerful, interactive visuals, the campaign hopes to deliver its message in a way that truly hits home with drivers of all ages and backgrounds.
