Saudi Arabia’s three-month midday outdoor work ban to take effect on June 15

Safety measure to protect workers from heat-related risks during peak summer months

Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced that a three-month midday outdoor work ban for all private sector companies and establishments will take effect from Sunday, June 15.

Implemented in collaboration with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, the ban will be enforced daily from 12 to 3pm and continue through September 15.

The initiative is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of workers by prohibiting outdoor work under direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day.

It aims to reduce health risks, ensure a safe working environment, and align with international occupational safety and health standards.

The ministry urged employers to adjust working hours in line with the decision and to fully comply with its requirements. Proper implementation will help reduce exposure-related occupational injuries and illnesses, thereby enhancing workplace safety and sustaining productivity.

To support compliance, the ministry has published a Procedural Guide on its website outlining measures to prevent the effects of sun exposure and heat exhaustion.

It also called on the public to report violations through its customer service hotline (19911) or the official mobile application.
