Tributes are being paid to a popular satellite engineer (50) who sustained fatal injuries while working at a private house in Westport in County Mayo.
Gardaí have confirmed the incident happened on Tuesday afternoon May 13th at Carrowholly, Westport.
The deceased has been named locally as Patrick Kilcoyne (50) who was from Errew, Castlebar. Patrick worked as a TV and satellite engineer and has been running his own business PK Sound and Vision for nearly 20 years.
Paying tribute the Errew Community committee said ‘’ It is with immense sadness that the Errew Community send their deepest sympathies to the entire family of our neighbour, Patrick Kilcoyne upon his untimely, devastating passing.
“The community are heartbroken for Sharon, Darragh, Padraig, Michaela, Pat & Maureen, Valerie, Marie & Tommy, their partners & children and all the extended Kilcoyne family, neighbours and friends and offer as much support as we can at this time. Rest in Peace Pat’’
Locals also paid tribute. One local said ‘’Pat was always a gentleman to deal with and a great worker. May Pat rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing to his family and many friends’’.
Another said ‘’Deepest condolences to Sharon and family on the sad passing of Pat. He was a lovely man. May he Rest in Peace’’. While a close friend posted ‘’Pat was the loveliest lad you could ever wish to meet. We were lucky to know him. He was one in a million’’.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Darragh and Padraic, daughter Michaela, Parents Pat and Maureen, brother and sisters.
His remains will repose at Ballyheane Community centre on Sunday May 18th from 5 until 7 o clock followed by removal to his home.
Funeral arriving to St Patrick Church Ballyheane on Monday for Requiem Mass at 11:30 followed by removal to Shannon Crematorium for committal service at 4 pm.
The local Coroner and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have been notified and a number of investigations have been launched.
It is understood arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination to be carried out and gardai say a file will be prepared for the local Coroner.
